Professor Fabio Tosti received the M.Sc. Engineering degree (cum laude) in Infrastructure and Transportation Engineering and the Ph.D. degree (Hons.) in Civil Engineering with European Doctorate Label (excellent rating) from Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy, in 2010 and 2014 respectively. He is currently a Professor of Civil Engineering and the Deputy Head of the Faringdon Centre for Non-Destructive Testing, University of West London, London, U.K. A registered professional engineer, Professor Tosti is a Senior Member of IEEE and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation and the Higher Education Academy. His research interests include the development of new algorithms, methodologies and numerical models for geoscience applications, and the non-destructive and remote sensing assessment, repair, and maintenance of civil engineering infrastructures. He has over 170 research publication records in international journals, conferences, and books. He is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Pavement Engineering (IJPE), Geoscientific Instrumentation, Methods and Data Systems (GI) and the Journal of Railway Engineering, and a member of the editorial board of Remote Sensing and Frontiers in Remote Sensing.
Professor Tosti served as an Organiser, a Panel Member (Scientific), and the Session Chair for several international conferences and held a supervisory role at the international project European Cooperation in Science and Technology TU1208 Action, titled “Civil Engineering Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar.” He was the General Co-Chair of the 2nd International Workshop on Signal Processing Techniques for Ground Penetrating Radar Applications (SPT4GPRA 2020) in 2020 (TSP – IEEE Conference Record #49548). In 2017, he was a recipient of the Early Career Scientists Award from the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for “his outstanding contribution to the development of new GPR methodologies in geosciences and civil engineering”. Additionally, he holds the post of Convener at the EGU General Assembly for sessions on NDT methods and data fusion. He has served as an Associate Editor and a Managing Guest Editor for numerous international journals.
Ahmad Safuan Bin A Rashid
Associate Professor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
Ahmad Safuan Bin A Rashid is a Bachelor holder in Civil Engineering discipline from UTM. He has obtained Master of Civil Engineering (Geotechnics) from UTM in 2005. Then, he pursued my PhD study in Geotechnical Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, University of Sheffield, England and graduated with my doctorate in November 2011. His research was related to the failure behavior of soft soil treated with a group of soil cement columns formed by the Deep Mixing (DM) method. He has participated in the 10th Young Geotechnical Engineerings’Symposium in London in 2008 and had prepared and published 5 publications from my PhD work.
